Dougherty St, New Smyrna Beach, FL
This house abutted our property in New
Smryna Beach, and was the eyesore of the neighborhood.
We approached
the owner about
buying it, and fortunately, he was willing to sell.
It was among our more
challenging projects.
The picture on the left shows the back of a truck that the previous owners had wired with electricity and used as their laundry room. Apparently, transporting the laundry in and out of the house was a problem, as we found 20 some-odd pairs of underwear strewn here and there among the trash in the back yard.
The large ceiling patch is where one of the kids fell through the ceiling from the attic. I'm especially fond of the plywood and duct tape repair on the broken glass of the door.

More duct tape...

Rotten window ledge, and a lovely box built around the clawfoot tub. A fine example of modernization.

Electricity, water, and children... always a nice combination!

The owner looked at the ductwork draped across the ceiling and admitted, "Yep, I know that's not how yer s'pose to do it."

There really wasn't room for the stove, so they had it in the adjoining living room. Open concept living at its finest. We opted for the more traditional layout by cutting down the cabinet to make room for the stove. The cabinet above the refrigerator houses the now-hidden ductwork that goes into the den.
