Merry Christmas!
2009
Let us take a moment to focus on the real message of Christmas. We wish to share with you some missing pieces to the Christmas story which have unfolded in our home over the past few years.
You see, every year a drama unfolds across our hardwood floors as the three wise men begin their journey toward the manger. And in that drama, we have been introduced to some little known characters. Perhaps you did not know that one of the three kings carried upon his camel a gift far more fitting for the baby Jesus than those gifts we’ve always heard about. He brought to the newborn king a small teddy bear named Frank. Just a baby himself, we avoid confusing him with grown up human Frank by calling him Frank Infant.

Many adventures and misadventures befell the kings, the camels and Infant Frank as they wandered through far away lands.

These kings of orient started strong as they journeyed through China.

Past the great pyramids of Egypt they traveled.

Beaten by the harsh elements of the
desert, the Lord sent unto them a special angel to help guide their way -
the Angel Murray. And the Lord said unto the wise men, deliver ye the Angel
Murray unto my newborn son, that Murray may protect Him and his earthly
parents.

But alas, the Lord had additional plans for the travelers. For Mary, the mother of his son , God’s baby mama, was but a young girl and at risk for being unable to provide adequate nutrition for her new infant. So God needed for the wise men to take on the extra burden of traveling with a cow. She was indeed a good cow, a noble cow. Goldie was her name, so called for the golden bell she wore around her neck.
Filled with the power of faith, the three kings forged onward, protected by the angel Murray, carefully guarding Frank Infant, and slowing their pace for Goldie the cow. At times, they would become so disoriented with exhaustion that they would wander from their course. But kind strangers would invite them in for rest and comfort.

They faced many obstacles. But each time, the Lord provided for them the help and support from the faithful far and wide - friends to steer them onto the safest path,

tradesmen to help them overcome barriers,

and humble townspeople to sooth their travel weary spirits.

For there is nothing that can not be overcome when we are guided by faith in God, love for our fellow man, personal strength and perseverance.

And so this Christmas, as on every Christmas (never mind actual historical timelines,) the three wise men WILL find the baby Jesus,

and they will bestow upon Him their enduring gifts of Goldie, Frank Infant, and Murray.

Wishing you a Christmas filled with peace, love, and a little bit of silliness.
